5. Cabin Ritual
Every visit to the Sky Cabin ends with a few simple rituals.
• From the Shelf
Each time I finish a post, I showcase one book from the Sky Cabin’s bookshelf.
The books rotate (I have an attic full of them).
Some are cozy, some are demanding, but all of them mean something to me.
• Grain of Wisdom from the Sandglass
A single thought, usually from Marcus Aurelius or another hero of mine.
The sandglass is my favorite memento mori item.
• What the Candle Said
I look at the flame for thirty seconds and write whatever comes to mind.
The candle always has something to say.
• Desert Stones
Before I leave, the stones ask to see the night sky. They want to know the phase of the Moon and which planets are out—because the stones believe that as above, so below.
• Cabin Cup
I’m a coffee person, but tea has its benefits.
This is where I share what I’m drinking — sometimes happily, sometimes forcing myself to get it over with.
• Perfect Music
The soundtrack of the Sky Cabin.
This is highly personal, but if you really want to know what I’m listening to, you’ll have to email me: (skycabin@posteo.net).
(It’s my excuse to talk with you.)
